Commentary
That's a wrap of tonight's Big Bash action. Do join us tomorrow for more fun from the BBL. For now, cheers and bye..
Max Bryant | Player of the Match: Yeah, I just think we had wickets in hand there at the last 4 or 5 overs. It's a pretty nice place to be at. Xavier came out and took a little bit of pressure off me 16th-17th over there. Credit to him that that gave me the, I guess, the release to go out there and try to hit every ball for six and it worked out tonight. Yeah, we said before the game, it's pretty much a do or die. We don't want to lose here at the Gabba. We are 3 from 3 here and hopefully, hopefully we go 5 and 5 and sneak into the finals. That'd be perfect. Yeah, it does. I think we need to win two home games. Hopefully one away and we will make the finals. So, good win tonight. Credit to the boys. The bowlers bowled awesome tonight. I think that's their best bowling performance, especially on that wicket. I think the Stars might have been 20 short there. We were lucky tonight. To hit a couple of bad balls away and get the win. (on the crowd tonight) I have had a couple of chances to seal the game and that's the first time in about, I think, 80 games I've played. So, it was always nice to do it at your home state at the Gabba. So, I think at the Heat we had that spirit to keep fighting, shows the Queensland spirit. So, yeah, it was awesome to see tonight. (on their next game against the Sixers) Yeah, they're a strong outfit. We play them two in the last five games, so hopefully we can get a couple of wins under the belt and storm into the finals. Yeah, I just think, probably the first five years I've played, I always panicked in those situations. Now I'm out here, I'm just having fun, playing with my mates and that's all what it's about. So, yeah, it's good to get the win tonight and hopefully we can get a couple more and get into the finals.
21:36 Local Time, 11:36 GMT, 17:06 IST: The Heat are all smiles. They have ended the unbeaten run of the Stars. Third win for the Heat. And a much-needed one. Bryant the hero. 34 off his last 9 balls and he turned the game around, along with Bartlett. At the end of the 15th over, the Heat were 120/5 and struggling. They needed 76 off 30 to win and then it all turned around. The second Surge over went for 15 and then the Heat rode on that momentum. Both Bryant and Bartlett hit the boundaries when it was needed and the Heat managed an unlikely win. Earlier, it was the McSweeney and Renshaw stand that put Heat on track but three quick wickets saw them slip from 103/2 to 109/5. The Stars wouldn't be happy at bowling some extras at crucial moments, especially Siddle who bowled a over the waist high full-toss no-ball and conceded a six off the free-hit. Stay tuned to find out who the player of the match is....
Haris Rauf to Bryant, FOUR, Bryant finishes it off. He is pumped. Runs as he roars in the direction of his dugout. Goes to Bartlett and hugs him who is also running with arms outstretched in celebration. A short delivery at him, he is on his tiptoes as he cuts between gully and short third man, runs away for four
Haris Rauf to Bryant, SIX, Bryant with the powerful blow. A slower-ball off-cutter on a good length outside off, Bryant drags the heave, but still has the power and clears deep backward square-leg on the fence, just sails over. Scores level now, the Heat dugout are up and celebrating
Haris Rauf to Bryant, 2 runs, slower-ball off-cutter on middle, Bryant swipes, it's not timed well, rolls to Stoinis at long-on, the throw is on the bounce to Sam Harper who can't glove, the chance for the run-out goes, Stoinis is not happy
Haris Rauf to Bartlett, 1 run, full and seam-up on middle, Bartlett clears his front leg, drags the drive to deep mid-wicket, just one
Haris Rauf [3.0-0-27-1] is back into the attack
10 off 6. Momentum with the Heat. Rauf to bowl.
End of Over 0: N/A runs, N/A wkts
Tom Curran to Bryant, 2 runs, good length just outside off, Bryant drags the pull, Cartwright gets across and cuts it off with a dive from deep mid-wicket to his left, keeps it to two - 17 off the over
Tom Curran to Bryant, SIX, slower-ball and short outside off, Bryant goes on the back foot and slashes, such is his power, it flies all the way over deep backward point, fast hands and the crowd love it
Tom Curran to Bartlett, 1 run, slower-ball and the off-cutter, full outside off, Bartlett gets forward to drive to long-off
Tom Curran to Bartlett, 2 runs, bit fuller than the last one, Bartlett drills it straight down the ground, this time Maxwell runs around and dives to his left from long-on to keep it to two
Tom Curran to Bartlett, FOUR, a half-volley just outside off, Bartlett smashes the drive straight down the ground and beats Maxwell running to his left, that was hit so hard, races away
Tom Curran to Bartlett, 2 runs, slower and short of length just outside off, Bartlett goes on the back foot to pull to deep mid-wicket, into the gap, they come back for two
Tom Curran [3.0-0-30-1] is back into the attack
End of Over 0: N/A runs, N/A wkts
Peter Siddle to Bryant, no run, full and just inside the tramline on the off-side, Bryant leans back to carve, misses
Peter Siddle to Bryant, SIX, the free-hit goes for six. A slower-ball on a length on leg-stump, Bryant stands and swings, the ball flies all the way over fine-leg, that is an expensive no-ball
A change of ball.
A free-hit coming up for Bryant.
