Commentary
Two out of two for South Africa in Durban. The teams will now head to Johannesburg where South Africa have a chance to wrap up the series. India have plenty to think about in their bid to turn things around. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Chloe Tryon | Player of the Match: Well, it was good today, and I had a lot of fun, so I'm happy that I did for him today. But he's been a big help for me (Keshav Maharaj - the spin consultant for this series). He's watched me, all his knowledge has helped me.
Wolvaardt: Yeah, not bad (perfect game?). Pretty good in all three aspects again. One or two catches went down but we took some good ones as well. After the start they had, to chase only 140 was pretty good. I think it's definitely an area we struggled with last series (death overs bowling). So to see us sort of turn that around and then make a great comeback in that area is awesome. I think our bowlers sort of identified that the slower stuff into the wicket was working well. And I think they communicated that quite well as a group and executed well. I think it's something that we've spoken about a lot, just being a bit more aware cricket-wise, just being a little bit more present in the moment on the field. I think we've done that well this series. I'd like to see those small things that we're speaking about showing on the field. Big excitement (being 2-0 up). Obviously, change of venue. So we'll have an assessment. But yeah, very great position to be in to be 2-0 up. But I know this is a world-class Indian side, obviously world champions in ODI cricket. So they're gonna come back pretty hard. So they'll definitely have some plans for us coming next game. So, got to switch off tomorrow and then be ready for the next one.
Harmanpreet: Didn't bat well in the last 10 overs in both games. Bowling wise also the powerplay is not going our way. When you're not getting the shots, rotating strike is key. Unfortunately not able to do that. Have to stay together and think how to go about the next games. Shafali is a great talent for us. Attacking batter and does her job in the first six. Hopefully she'll keep doing the same. I think a new place and hopefully we'll go with a positive approach over there because, you know, this T20 format is like that sometimes things doesn't work, but it's always about staying together and keep thinking how we have to keep improving. And I think now we have two days and hopefully we'll keep discussing the areas where we have to keep improving as a team and hopefully we'll execute in the remaining matches.
Tryon is Player of the Match
5pm local: A comprehensive win for the hosts, chasing the target down with close to three overs to spare. The target was below par and the fireworks from Wolvaardt at the top made it look even more so. India's fielding was sloppy again with chances going down and runs being given away. But their batting is the bigger worry. Twice in two games now that the middle order has failed to capitalise on a good platform. From 99/2, they got bowled out for 147 as Chloe Tryon and Tumi Sekhukhune shared six wickets between them. That total wasn't enough against an in-form Wolvaardt and the rest.
Anushka Sharma to Tazmin Brits, FOUR, a gift from Anushka, it's short and wide and Brits cuts it in the gap through point with the field up. 2-0 to South Africa as they wrap up another run-chase here in Durban
Anushka Sharma, right-arm medium, comes into the attack
End of Over 0: N/A runs, N/A wkts
Arundhati Reddy to Annerie Dercksen, FOUR, turning down leg, easily put away by Dercksen as she glances it past short fine, just four more needed
Arundhati Reddy to Tazmin Brits, 1 run, pushed down to long-off
Arundhati Reddy to Annerie Dercksen, 1 run, floated up just outside off, driven to long-off
Arundhati Reddy to Annerie Dercksen, FOUR, no one behind point and Dercksen opens the face beautifully to slice it away in the big gap that's there. Just a touch outside off from Arundhati and that's enough for Dercksen
Arundhati Reddy to Tazmin Brits, 1 run, overpitched on middle and leg, driven back to Arundhati who misfields
Arundhati Reddy to Annerie Dercksen, 1 run, full and straight, driven to long-on
Arundhati Reddy [3.0-0-15-0] is back into the attack
End of Over 0: N/A runs, N/A wkts
Shreyanka Patil to Annerie Dercksen, 1 run, turning in off a length, Dercksen shuffles across and tucks it through square leg
Shreyanka Patil to Annerie Dercksen, no run, cramped on the cut, mistimes to cover
Shreyanka Patil to Tazmin Brits, 1 run, would you believe it! Another catch put down! Tossed up in the slot, smashed down to long-on, straight to Arundhati who fails to hold on
Shreyanka Patil to Tazmin Brits, FOUR, driven firmly through extra cover, beats long-off. Too full from Shreyanka and punished
Shreyanka Patil to Annerie Dercksen, 1 run, Dercksen might've been struggling with a direct hit. Tucked gently behind square, takes off for a risky run and backward square closes it down quickly. Fails to hit the stumps though
