Commentary
RR jump to 2nd spot after this win. They arrest their two-match losing streak whilst also extending LSG's misery. That's it from this game. We will be there tomorrow for a big one - MI v CSK. Will a certain number 7 play? All the answers tomorrow here. Do join us then. For now it's bye bye from all of us here.
Ravindra Jadeja | Player of the Match: "Yeah, feeling good, getting Man of the Match and winning the team. So, yeah, I'm feeling very good, but before I start, I would like to dedicate this award to Education Minister of Gujarat (his wife) because she told me yesterday itself that you're gonna do wonders tomorrow. So I would like to thank her. (on batting in tough situations) Yeah, wicket was not that easy because ball was seaming and swinging. So I thought, let me play longer as much as I can. And that is what I was talking to Donovan and whoever coming next to batting. So I was just talking to him that we'll play longer because in T20 cricket, you never know. Last over, as we like, we cashed in, like we got 20-odd runs in last over. So that is what the thinking behind. (on targetting Mayank in the last over) Yeah, I think coming from injury, it's not that easy bowling with that pace. But I was just backing my strength and I was talking to my partner that let's back each other and let's play good cricket shot. Because as I said, on this wicket, ball was seaming a lot and bounce was there. So it's not that easy that you can play any shot at any given time. (on the hands in pocket celebration after getting Pooran) Yeah he is in my pocket. Nothing, just randomly thought came into my mind and I did it. (on bowling slower today) No, because ball was gripping a little bit. So I was just thinking that should I bowl quicker on this wicket or should I bowl slow? So I thought, okay, I bowl a few slow balls. And then I realized that yeah, if I bowl slow, then I might get a little bit hold from the wicket. So that is what I was looking to do. (on bowling different paces to Marsh) Because that side was on the mid-wicket side, long-on side a little bit shorter compared to other sides. So I knew that he might play that shot at some stage. So I was just bowling and mixing up with my pace, slow, wide and full ball also. (if he became Wasim Akram today) No, no, no, no. Today I was looked to bowl slow."
Riyan Parag | RR captain: "Very pleased. Firstly, I feel we were really short with the bat. The way the wicket was playing when me and Hetty were batting, I think we've got to be better. I thought, honestly, even with the situation we had, we were close to getting 180 and that would have been a really good score cos I knew it was going to be slowing down later, but yeah, the bowlers... (approach of the openers slightly different in the last two games) No, it's because of the wickets. At the start of the tournament, the message to the group was that we will be a team that assesses and adapts and I feel the last two games, the wickets we got, they adapted really well and they batted according to the wicket and not just how they wanted to bat. It's nothing to do with the middle-order not scoring or whatever it is. If they get a flat wicket, they go guns blazing. If they get another wicket like this, they can take some time and then we move on from there. (on Archer and Burger) I'm blessed. I mean, for two bowlers to bowl 3-3 in the powerplay at this stage of the game or how T20 cricket is evolving, I think it's just commendable. The wicket was helping a little more to the seamers in the first innings, but then the second innings, we knew it would swing, but the lengths they bowled, the lines they bowled and the way we fielded, impressive. (on him petering out after starting well in the past) Everyone has been very supportive. I've been going through a phase as well. Right before the IPL, I had gone through something and then even now I'm going through something and everyone understands that. Everyone respects that and I thank them for that. I feel the way I'm batting an innings is not too far away, but as I've been saying, if I go in tomorrow and I play another game, it's going to be what the team needs. It's not me not scoring runs and taking my time getting 40 off 30. That's not going to happen. I go out there, assess conditions. If they want me to go at 200 from ball one, I will do that."
Nandre Burger: "Yeah, I think it's good to get back on the winning side of things. Obviously, bowling with Joff, as you said, now it's pretty cool. It was a great performance. Obviously, a bit of a stutter with the bat yet again, but no doubt the boys will fix that. (lot of slower balls today) Yeah, the wicket looks like it's got that bit of a mahogany tint, so I felt like the ball would kind of grip a little bit towards the end, so I just tried to obviously change the pace, trying to do them and hopefully it grips and they hit one straight up. (chat with the bowling coach before the game, plans?) Yeah, pretty much just to keep it as simple as possible. We just basically try and find the hardest ball to hit on the day and try to bowl that 120 times. And obviously, assess as the game goes on. But yeah, I think there's not too much. I think the only thing we're working on is just to get better at bowling the stuff ball, if that makes sense, as I said trying to bowl the ball that's like the hardest to hit on the day. (on him bowling deeper in the innings) Obviously, as I said to you, it's a call the captain makes on the day, but I'll always be ready to step up if the team needs me. Whether the result goes our way or not, I'll be there to give a 100%."
Rishabh Pant | LSG captain: (where did that go wrong?) "I think it is difficult to explain. Like it's definitely our batting is letting us down, but at the same time, we are disappointed as a team, as a group, but at the same time, you've got to keep finding ways, you know. You have to look for answers inside, not outside, but that's how it is as of now. (should the team have played sedately when the ball was moving?) See, definitely, we could have taken some time while batting and at the same time, not making any excuse out there, like, including myself in that. Like we could have taken it a little deeper because I think the bowlers did a fantastic job, especially after the last game. But, as a batting group, we need to put our hand up and try to finish the job for the bowlers also. (on the bowling group) See, definitely, there is still a lot we want to look at the positive side. We all know it's disappointing for us as a team, but we have to keep our head high and look for answers inside. And we surely know that we have enough firepower in our bowling and batting and we can still turn it around. That's what I believe in."

23:14 Local Time, 17:44 GMT, 23:14 IST: We were banging on about Ekana Stadium being a chasing venue in the IPL since 2023 in our Match Forecast script, here on comms pre-match and look what has happened. RR tearing that theory and chucking it away. Jofra Archer didn't get a wicket first-ball - which he had done in his last three games - but bowled with extreme pace and was once again terrific. A run-out started things for RR and then Pant played a poor shot to leave them in trouble. Pooran and Marsh tried to rebuild but the former perished to Jadeja in trying for a big shot. Marsh was seeing his partners go one by one and he was the dangerman for RR. He got to his fifty and then got out. No heroics from Mukul either and in the end RR defend 159 by 40 runs - a handsome margin of victory in T20s. Four losses on the trot for LSG who are struggling. RR get back to winning ways meanwhile. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff....

Jofra Archer to Mohsin Khan, out Bowled!! Jofra Archer ends things. Jadeja comes to hug him. Parag with a "come on". This is full and fast on middle, right up there, Mohsin Khan backs away, tries to drive and misses. The middle-stump is flattened. RR win by 40 runs. Mohsin Khan b Jofra Archer 0(3)

Mohsin Khan, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Jofra Archer to Mayank Yadav, out Caught by Dhruv Jurel!! One-handed blinder to his right. Again Mayank Yadav doesn't want to get in line. Maybe he is expecting the short delivery. Full and the seam comes out wobbly on middle-stump, Mayank leaning back, guides it with an open-face. Like catching practice in the slips before a game, Jurel dives to his right and is airborne when he pulls off a fine catch. The ball was dying and going at pace too. Mayank Yadav c Dhruv Jurel b Jofra Archer 5(5) [4s-1]
Jofra Archer to Mayank Yadav, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Jofra Archer to Mayank Yadav, FOUR, cute and superb. Tight length delivery on off, Mayank Yadav doesn't bother to stay in line, he is leg-side of the ball, leans back, opens the face of the bat and uses the pace of Jofra Archer to help it wide of backward point. Draws a wry smile from Archer
Jofra Archer to Digvesh Singh Rathi, 1 run, rip-snorter of a short delivery at Digvesh Singh Rathi, he somehow does well, yanks his head back and glides it down to third man, who's fine
Jofra Archer [3.0-1-15-1] is back into the attack
End of Over 0: N/A runs, N/A wkts
Brijesh Sharma to Mayank Yadav, no run, another slower-ball and short of length outside off, Mayank Yadav gets forward to cut, mistimes it back to Brijesh Sharma
